Happy New Year 2024

Christian New Year

Christmas is a world celebration that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Currently, more than 95% of countries in the world use the Gregorian calendar as the international calendar. The basis of the Gregorian calendar is the birthday of Christ, and it was announced for the first time on January 1, 1582 in Scotland, and after the canonization and reforms in 1600, it was announced by order of Pope Gregory, which is also known as the Gregorian calendar, but in Iran and Arab countries call it the Gregorian calendar.

The tradition of erecting a Christmas tree

The tradition of the Christmas tree dates back to the Middle Ages in Europe. This tradition was first formed in areas such as Germany and its surroundings. Large trees known as “Ponce Albertinus” or “Christmas trees” were used in homes as symbols of newness and life.

At the end of the 16th century, the travels of European traders and travelers caused this tradition to be transferred to other parts of the world. In the 19th century, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in Britain promoted this tradition and made it fashionable by publishing their family portraits and the Victorian Christmas tree.

In the early 20th century, with the growth of the lumber industry and the production of artificial trees, the Christmas tree tradition spread as an important part of the Christmas celebration in the United States.

Today, both artificial and live Christmas trees are used in people’s homes, and the tradition continues as a central symbol of the Christmas celebration in most parts of the world. In the meantime, some believe that the tradition of Christmas trees goes back to the ancient Egyptians and Romans, who decorated everywhere with evergreens during the winter solstice to make spring come back. The evergreens reminded them of all the green plants that were supposed to grow after the sun returned.

Santa clause

Christmas and New Year always remind us of the fictional character of Santa Claus, the fat old man with a white beard and red clothes, whose sleigh full of presents is moved by flying deer, and on Christmas Eve, he visits the houses one by one and puts the gifts in the bags for the children. Or the socks that are hung for this purpose, he puts food and gifts.

Papanuel or Santa Claus refers to the name of a Christian priest named Saint Nicholas who lived in the 4th century AD and was a resident of an old Byzantine city called Mayra in the Anatolian region of Turkey. Nikola lost his parents at a young age and inherited a lot of wealth. He was famous for helping and giving gifts to the poor, and the character of Santa Claus is derived from him.
