Sterilization is the process by which microorganisms and their transmitters, including fungi, bacteria, bacteria, and viruses, are removed from the surface of objects.
The sterilization process, depending on the type of equipment required for sterilization, includes heat, dry (four), heat, wet (autoclave), chemical, radioactive (radio gamic) and plasma autoclave (by oxygen peroxide and autoclave ethylene oxide) or ethylene oxide (gas).
It means completely free of bacteria or fungi or viruses or other pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms (in the case of inanimate objects) .The purpose of sterilization is to prevent the transmission of infection.
The definition of sterilization in medicine varies with environment and food. The SAL indicates the confidence level of sterility. In medical science, that is, out of 100,000 particles in a sterile package, if there is a living microorganism, it is considered sterile. In food and the environment this number is higher.
Disinfect
Disinfection kills bacteria or fungi or viruses or other pathogenic microorganisms on the surface of various devices and equipment.
Conventional disinfection performed by substances such as alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, and iodinated poviodine does not kill all the components of the microorganism, including endospores or prions, and sterilization is used in sensitive tasks such as surgery, dentistry, and so on.
Disinfection levels are divided into high level, medium level and low level.
Sterilization methods
Common sterilization methods include :
- Thermal method by devices such as autoclave and four in this method, the effect of heat and water vapor pressure is used to kill microorganisms.
- The chemical method uses sterilizers such as oxygenated water and chemical reactions (such as free radicals) to sterilize.
- Irradiation method by gamma ray, X-ray and ultraviolet radiation.
- The filtration method is used for liquids and involves passing the liquid through fine-textured filters.
